At the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Casey served with distinction as a Detective, SWAT Team Leader, and member of specialized units including the Special Victims Unit, the U.S. Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. He created and led the Digital Forensics & Technology section within the Special Victims Unit, focusing on complex, technology-driven investigations, many of which were conducted in an undercover capacity.
In addition to being a certified Law Enforcement Instructor, Casey was a Certified Law Enforcement Counter-Terrorism Instructor through the Direct Action Resource Center (DARC). He was honored as Deputy of the Year in 2012 and placed 2nd in the David Scott Memorial Top Gun Competition in 2014. With advanced certifications including CFCE, ICMDE, CCE, Cellebrite's CCME, coupled with over 1000 hours of specialized training, his work at MCSO laid the foundation for his career at the forefront of cybercrime and digital forensics.
At LOGICFORCE, Casey served in a senior advisory and investigative role within the Digital Forensics lab. Drawing on his extensive background in law enforcement and digital investigations, Casey provided leadership, continuity, and stability for both internal teams and high-profile clients.
He led complex forensic analyses, delivered expert-level opinions in sensitive litigation matters—including trade secret disputes—and became a trusted point of contact for attorneys requiring testifiable, defensible findings. Beyond his technical expertise, Casey also mentored junior investigators, strengthening the team’s capabilities and reinforcing a standard of excellence in investigative practice.
His ability to quickly assess cases, guide strategy, and communicate findings clearly enabled LOGICFORCE to maintain client confidence and continue operations seamlessly during a pivotal time. Casey’s contributions were instrumental in preserving long-standing client relationships and ensuring successful outcomes in high-stakes litigation.
At NW3C, Casey served as a lead instructor and curriculum developer, specializing in cutting-edge investigative training for law enforcement professionals nationwide. He led the development and instruction of the Dark Web / Open Source Information course, a comprehensive 3-day program focused on digital privacy, security, and full-spectrum online investigative techniques. He also served as the lead developer and instructor for the first of its kind Virtual Currencies course, offering in-depth training on the technical and investigative aspects of a wide range of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies.
In addition to these flagship offerings, Casey contributed to the creation of several key courses, including: Digital Evidence Basics for Judges and Prosecutors, Mobile Device Forensics, Advertising IDs, and Digital Footprints. When not developing curriculum or providing technical assistance to law enforcement agencies, he delivered these courses both online and in-person across the country—equipping thousands of law enforcement professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to combat today’s evolving digital threats.
At Chainalysis, Casey played a key role in educating global audiences on the rapidly evolving world of cryptocurrency and blockchain investigations. He was responsible for developing and delivering expert-level training content focused on cryptocurrency fundamentals, blockchain transaction tracing, and product enablement across the Chainalysis platform.
Casey worked closely with government agencies, financial institutions, and compliance professionals around the world to help them understand the nuances of blockchain technology and the movement of value across decentralized networks. His training bridged the gap between complex technical concepts and real-world investigative applications—equipping clients with the tools and knowledge needed to detect fraud, trace illicit transactions, and ensure regulatory compliance.
